Veterans Legal Services Initiative

For Lawyers and Providers

Our nation owes a huge debt of gratitude to our United States veterans. Yet the brave service members who fought to protect freedom and the rule of law around the world often lack access to their own legal system here at home. To correct that, the American Bar Association (ABA) has launched a major Veterans Legal Services Initiative, which includes supporting the Jones Day law firm’s creation of a national pro bono legal network called VetLex.

VetLex is a system that links U.S. veterans, veteran-serving organizations, and qualified pro bono or “low bono” lawyers -- across town or across the country -- who stand ready, willing and able to provide the specific legal services needed.

Please join the ABA and Jones Day in the important mission to provide pro bono services for veterans. To receive more information about how you can become part of VetLex, register below.

For Veterans

At this time, we are not yet ready to make referrals as we are in phase one of the initiative: recruiting lawyers who will provide services. We expect to go live with a nationwide launch in early 2017. In the meantime, if you have immediate needs, please consult your local bar association or contact the following organizations which provide legal program directories and a number of other resources for active military, veterans, and their families.
